The story of the village Jelov Klanac reaches far into the past. It's a bit sad because Jelov Klanac had the same fate as many other villages. People left to much larger places, but there's a happy ending as well.
Village Jelov Klanac used to be inhabited and lively, but due to the turbulent past and trend of migration to the cities, many people left and houses were empty. Many years later, on the base of the old family house, under the 400 year old tree Tilia, house Fir was built. House Fir is made out of woods and it’s unique and original. House Fir is a house that is placed in the woods.
The house is built with lots of love and a desire to be a motivation for people to come back here and make the village lively as it used to be. House Fir shined a seed of tourism and of sustainable development.
In a very simple luxurious country house (200 m2) people started to gather, old and new ones. They are enjoying the silence, which they say you can hear, the best in Jelov Klanac. Collecting medical herbs, photographing rare plants such as holly, collecting forest strawberries and porcini mushrooms are part of the story of sustainable development. People who came here were tasting some specialties of region Lika, they were enjoying the beautiful Plitvice lakes and they were staying at the house that is surrounded by nature so they could go walking, hiking, painting and breathe deeply.
In the wintertime, when snow covers everything, inside the wooden houses Fir and Pine you can feel the beauty of the crackling fireplace. Surrounded by warmth and peace you will feel how wonderful winter can be if you take a look outside the window. At summertime, Jelov Klanac is full of playful fireflies and the sky is full of stars, which makes it all even more special, and when everything gets quiet, the smell of immortelle, linen and chamomile is spreading around the apartments.
In the nearby woods there are many springs of clean water, and that's the place where you can see wild animals drinking the water - animals such as rabbits and deer. On the estate, you can see cat Kici and dogs Miki and Dona hanging out together. Horses are also located near the houses and they are available to feed, water or ride. The area is rich of valleys, hills and breathtaking sightseeing. There are many benches you can sit on and take a deep breath to enjoy while you smell the resin.
Wooden house is hidden far from the negative impact of civilization and light pollution, it's 12 km away from the first waterfall of Plitvice and it's placed between two hills. Some very rare species of beech (for example golden beech) are hiding at village Jelov Klanac. Soon we are plan to plant all 32 species of beech.
Another house was built after the house Fir - house Pine... and there may possibly be some more soon. Story about Jelov Klanac is a story of restoring a life in a village, and a story about clean water, silence, fir, pine, beech, animals and the symbiosis of human and nature.
